An Interview with Kerafride Umrigar, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013-14 of K.C. College who scored 86.14% and GPA score is 7.
How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?
Today what I am is because of my family and friends. They have constantly supported me and made sure I believe in myself. I purely own my success to them.
My success mantra is give in your 125% and leave the rest. If you have put in hardwork, you sure to succeed.
Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?
No, I do not study according to any timetable. I study what I feel like.
Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
I personally had taken tuitions for Fm and Ssf. Rest all subjects are manageable.
What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?
My specialization subject was finance. Finance is that field in which I want to make a career. Hence I opted for finance because it’s a very interesting subject.
Can you list the textbooks you referred for all subjects?
I went through all the last years question papers and referred Rishab Publications for all subjects.
Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?
All my papers went off well. So no paper was a bad paper as such.
Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
Well tension occurs when one is not prepared. Ideally one should make the best use of the time they have and not waste it. By putting in one hour also everyday helps. It helps to reduce stress and tension when exams are approaching since you are prepared.
The best way to release stress is to concentrate on your breathing for 5 minutes. It improves your concentration power and helps you to be calm.
The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.
Select the topic of your interest and half the battle is won. I enjoyed doing the project as the topic was of my interest and I learned a lot.
Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS? What are your future plans?
I am planning to pursue MBA in Finance
Any tips and advises for your juniors?
Hardwork and self belief is something that will take you a very long way in life. So never give up on these 2 aspects.
