India’s most prestigious T20 tournament, Indian Premier League(IPL), has always been producing  stars every season. While the Jamaican marauder Chris Gayle took the tournament by storm with his 66-ball 175
for Royal Challengers Bangalore last season, this time IPL is witnessing the rise of a new star
A switch-hit , an onside slog , a reverse-sweep . There’s barely anything that Glenn Maxwell can’t do in limited overs cricket.
After missing out in the IPL for Mumbai Indians last season, the 25-year-old Australian is screwing the opposition apart this year.
Kings XI Punjab spent a whopping Rs 6 crore to secure the services of Maxwell this season.
With the situation at hand, it appears that Mumbai Indians’ loss is Kings XI Punjab’s gain, big time. The Melbourne-born cricketer has already scored 184 runs in a mere two games with the tag of highest run-scorers in the IPL this season.
Maxwell has been right on the money from the word go this year. In his first game against the mighty Chennai Super Kings, no one would have expected Punjab to come to close to the 205-run total, let alone
winning it.
The win against Chennai was not enough, Punjab made an absolute mockery of Rajasthan Royals’ 191-run total on Sunday.
With David Miller providing the late flourish, Kings XI Punjab secured an emphatic seven-wicket win over Rajasthan making themselves the giant killers of the season at the helm of a consistent performer –
Glenn Maxwell.
