Rabi’al-awwal is celebrated on 23rd December 2014. Rabi’al-awwal is the 3rd month in the Islamic calendar. On this month, Muslims worldwide celebrate the birthday of the Islamic prophet Muhammad – Mawlid. Sunni Muslims believe 12th of the month is the birth date whereas Shi’a Muslims believe the Prophet to be born on the dawn of the 17th day. Rabi’al-awwal means the 1st or beginning of spring and is considered to be a very holy or blessed month.
