Interview with Rahul Mohandas, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013-14, S.I.C.E.S. Degree College who scored 64.84%.
How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?
It feels Amazing as I had never been a topper before. I will credit to my both college & classes professors, my parents and my friends for my success. My success mantra was hard work + Focus + Concentration.
Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of SEM 5?
I didn’t prepare anytime timetable. I use to practice FM & SSF Daily as it’s a practical subject but for theory subjects I started studying 1 month before the exams. I made schedule like 1 practical &1 theory subject daily and made a separate book for theory subject in which meaning, definition, head points was written. That’s how I cracked Sem 5.
Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
I guess for Practical subjects like FM & SSF coaching classes are required and rest of the subjects you can do it on your own. Yes, I had joined coaching classes for FM & SSF .
What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?
My specialization was Finance as I would like to make my career in finance field.
Can you list the textbooks you referred for all subjects?
In my opinion For Logistics, Rishabh publication and for Business Ethics, Seth Publications is best and for rest all Vipul Publications is best.
Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?
Business ethics was the paper in which I couldn’t do well. I guess there is nothing called worst and best paper in my opinion, all were good. It depends upon the students capability and performance to make it worst or best paper .
Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
“Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up”.
Well, I had a simple technique for stress management i.e. Listening to our favorite music. It removes all my tensions and sorrows. Just try it!
The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.
Initially, I had no clue what has to be done but after taking tips and guidance from my seniors I got a direction and then I started working on it. My topic was “INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE” and I opted it because cricket is one of my favorite game. I had studied the financial aspects of this league and its impact on Indian economy. I scored 80 out of 100.
Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS? What are your future plans?
No, I didn’t pursue any additional courses. My future is plan is to do MBA in Finance.
Any tips and advises for your juniors?
My advice for the juniors is that study from the start and make a proper time table for the all subjects. Practice FM and SSF (If you are opted) Daily. Constant Hard work and Focus is much needed. Remember one thing “Hard work always Pays off”.
