How to select alternatives?

There are three approaches:
a. Experience
i. Reliance on past experience. Carefully analyse the experience, rather than blindly following it.
ii. But this should not be the exclusive method.
b. Experimentation
i. Taking risk, & seeing what happens.
ii. But it is important to take calculated risk, & not blind risk
c. Research & analysis
i. Studying the cause & effect
