An Interview with Momin Saleha Shahid Ali, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper, BNN College (81.33%)
- Tell us something about yourself
I like to spend time with friends and family and also with my books ;), singing, dancing and having lots of fun with small kids are my hobbies. I always find happiness in little things and I don’t give much importance to the sorrows in my life. After BMS, I would like to go for Masters in Management.
- Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?
As no one can predict what’s next as same I was also not expecting anything as it leads to disappointments. I was just doing hard and smart work. For my success, I would like to thank My Almighty Authority and then I would like to give credit of my success to my parents, they are my inspiration, motivator and guide. They help me always whenever I face any problem. My hearty thanks to all my respected teachers as they are always present for providing best guidance.

- Did you prepare religiously from day one or a few weeks before the exams?
Continuous hardwork is must for getting success. From day 1, I used to solve FM and SSF but not theory subjects as I don’t like theory at all, but anyhow I have to study. So I made it interesting by preparing notes in lectures when Professors used to explain and give examples.
- How did you allot time to different subjects?
Till date, I have not followed a single timetable which I have made. It depends on my mood and I studied only 2 hours a day.
- Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?
None of the subjects are easy or tough and it depends upon how we treat them. If we think its easy then the level of concentration will decrease. Hence all subjects must be given equal weightage.
Case study must be attempted by students and last 40 minutes must be allotted for solving it.
- Do you think BMS students require coaching classes or are self-study enough?
Coaching classes are not at all required for theory subjects. I joined classes only for FM and SSF.
- Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities?
Yes ofcourse. I didn’t miss a single chance of participating in college fests and I was fortunate enough to be a winner in all such fests in various management games. As a management student, we must take part in all such activities as it is beneficial for us.
- Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
Committing suicide is not a solution to any problem. Instead of that, they must face it like a brave person. When I face any problems, I approach to my lovable parents and they always provide me a best solution. And I didn’t let any such stupid thinking come across in my mind because I care for my parents and never want to hurt them by attempting such things.
- Do you think the number of Industrial visits should be increased for BMS Students? Which industries have you visited?
There should be atleast 2 industrial visits a year. I have visited Parle G, Nissan Copper, Cotton Industry, New India Assurance Ltd.
- Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in?
Instead of giving assignments, Professors must conduct tests, presentations, GDs, Debate etc. as it is helpful for us.
- What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?
The one who can adjust in changing environment is the one who really deserves success. So please friends, stop adopting wrong ways to achieve something in life. If situation doesn’t favor you, just go and face it. All the best.
