The University

The University of Mumbai is one of the oldest and premier universities in India. Established in 1857, it is one amongst the first three Universities in India. The profile of this University carved out in 150 years of its functioning attests to its manifold achievements as the intellectual and moral powerhouse of the society. The University has always given its best to the country in general and to the city of Mumbai in particular by enthusiastically shouldering an ever-growing load of social values and opportunities.

Initially, the University concentrated its efforts on controlling teaching at the undergraduate level and in conducting examinations. Later on it took up research and the task of imparting instructions at the Post-Graduate level. This resulted in the establishment of the University Departments beginning with the School of Sociology and Civics & Politics. The independence of the country led to the re-organization of the functions and powers of the University with the passing of the Bombay University Act of 1953.

The University has two campuses of area 230 acres and 13 acres, with 1.25 million square feet of built-up area, 22 thousand sq. feet of class-rooms and 84 thousand sq feet of laboratory space. It has two post-graduate centres, 354 affiliated colleges and 36 Departments. It has established its name in industrial collaborations and runs various professional courses.

At national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and outreach activities. In the last five years it has seen 104% increase in under-graduate students, 112% increase in post-graduate students and 147% increase in distance – education students. There is 156% increase in the number of research papers published in International journals. 12 department of the University are recognized under various national programmes, such as SAP/ CAS/ DRS/ DSA/ COSIST/ FIST. More than 80 teachers are on various professional bodies. Every year about 20 teachers visit abroad for academic activities. Recently more than 10 self-supporting courses have been started by the University.

 

Integrated Management Programme (BMS-MBA) Five Year Course

 

University of Mumbai, Thane Sub Campus is offering Five Year Integrated Programme in Management (BMS MBA).

The duration of the degree is divided in to five years and each year is divided in to two semesters. The degree of BMS will be awarded to all the students who shall pass the first three years of the course.

There shall be a University examination at the end of each semester. The examination for the first, third, fifth, seventh and ninth will be held in the month of November and the examination for the second, fourth, sixth, eighth and tenth semester will be held in the month of April/May or on such dates as may be fixed by the University.

 

Eligibility Criteria

The admission to BMS-MBA 1st Semester shall be open to any candidate who has obtained a in Higher Secondary School/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognized Board with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of reserved category candidates) and should be below 20 years of age as on 1st July 2014 (22 years in case of reserved category candidates and Persons with Disability (PWD) ).

 

ENTRANCE TEST

MUCMET: Mumbai University Common ManagementEntrance Test

The aspirant will have to appear for Mumbai University Common Management Entrance Test (MUCMET) that will be conducted on 6th July 2014 from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm in Mumbai. The Centre for MUCMET will be declared on the web site of the University of Mumbai in due course of time.

The merit list will be created as per the scores in the MUCMET.

 

Reservations

Reservation for Backward Class Candidates:

The percentage of seats reserved for candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State are as per the details shown in table. The percentages of reservation are the percentages of the seats available or Maharashtra candidates (Maharashtra State seats) purview of Competent Authority subject to condition seat remain vacant in reserved

 

The reservations are as per Government of Maharashtra.

Candidates belonging to Special Backword Class (SBC) will be offered reservation up to 2% of the seats available for Maharashtra candidates (Maharashtra State Seats) which are coming under the purview of the Competent Authority subject to condition that seats remain vacant in the reserved category at the end of round one.

 

Fees for the Course

Fees for the course will be Rs. 50,000/- per year

 

Standard of Passing

The student has to obtain a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the internal assessment and 50 per cent marks in semester-end examination, separately. The weightage for the internal and External is given in the detail course structure

 

How to apply

Go on to the web site of the University of Mumbai  www.mu.ac.in.Follow the link for admission for IntegratedManagement Program (BMS-MBA).

Register yourself by filling the online form. Please take the print out of the form. Go to the payment link and Pay Rs 500 /-for open category and Rs. 250 for reserved category. Print the payment confirmation page and keep it with the copy of your application form.

The form has a Hall Ticket. You must fill complete information on that, paste your recent passport size photograph. Submit all these (Print out of Form, Payment details and Hall Ticket) in JBIMS 164, Backbay Reclamation H T Parekh Road, Churchgate Mumbai 400020 on or before 3rd July 2014 on working days (except second and fourth Monday, Sunday and public holidays) from 11.00 to 4.00 pm (1.00 pm to 1.30 pm Lunch break). The payment can be made online: follow the link on the website  www.mu.ac.in. Or payment can be made by Demand Draft, in favour of Director, JBIMS payable at Mumbai. Completed form should reach JBIMS office on or before 3rd July 2014.

Bring Photo id card / proof given by the Government Authority on the day of MUCMET.
