Beginning in the form of “Letters to the editor” a column hidden in some obscure corner, newspapers now offer the reader more ‘space’ in a daily, seeking to create brand loyalty and attract advertisers.
As more newspaper columns are devoted to local and national or even world problems, personal interface ideas are organized  by the newspapers on a selected theme which the readers are expected to write and send their views.Experts in newspaper welcome the trend saying it would lead to more people-oriented media in the newspaper.
With a delicate balance of power in the country gradually shifting from the government and the executive to the people and the public opinion they generate, the role of news media has become even more significant. That is how the agenda setting role of media has been important.
Almost all newspapers, big or small, have started adviser columns, where the readers seek answers to their questions they normally wouldn’t ask even their loved ones. Some others have gone to the extent of direct interaction with their readers by holding meetings with residents of particular colonies in various cities to hear their problems instills confidence among people and is something truly praise-worthy.
If big newspapers continue taking such initiatives the chances of our grievances being redressed become manifold.
