1)Â Â Â Â Â Which factors were considered in mind while selecting the Sem 6 Electives/Optional subjects?
Econometrics is a mathematical subject and I wanted a break from theory. Also, I knew it will enhance my analytical skills so opted for it. Above all, there were much higher chances of scoring in Econometrics as compared to other electives available.
2) Did you use BMS.co.in for your exam preparation? Which sections of BMS.co.in helped you?
Unlike many I used BMS.CO.IN to read the light hearted things like information about festivals and interviews, they gave a nice healthy break in the BMS context.
3) How do you feel to be a consistent topper in both Sem 5 and Sem 6 exams?
It feels good though I have never really given much stress on being a topper. Doing good and beating yourself is important I believe and then you can succeed in life. Definitely, enthusiasm is much higher in the beginning but with time also comes experience and you are more sorted in terms of what to study and how to study. I believe the experience I gained with time helped me plan my studies well. I didn’t indulge in much extra curriculars in my last semester and focused completely on studies and placements. That probably helped as well.
4) Behind one topper are many people who stood by him/her during those uncertain times when he/she was merely an ‘aspirant’. Would you like to tell the world, who were those people in your case? Any specific incidence that you would like to share with the readers?
Many actually. My parents most of all, who as I have mentioned in the previous interviews as well, showed faith in me and sent me to Mumbai to study (I hail from Mandi, a town in Himachal Pradesh). They were a constant source of inspiration. My sister and brother-in-law who like a true friend stood by me through thick and thin. My friends in college, hostel and in the beautiful city of Mumbai who were always so welcome and helpful.
Above all, professors who never lost hope and even when I didn’t do well or was sick helped and gave personal attention.
I think there is still a long way to go for me so feel a bit out of place for this question!
5) What is your message to the aspirants?
Relax, stay focussed and work hard. That’s the guru mantra. Being topper should not be your goal but to beat yourself every single time you give an exam should be the aim. Bettering yourself is the key to stay ahead in competition.
6) What was your study plan?
No plan as such. I referred generally only to class notes and a few books prescribed by professors. I will suggest not to confuse yourself with too many books and refer to one you are comfortable with and professors approve of. As I said 6th semester was more about studies for me and not extra-curriculars so I had ample time to give enough time to each subject. I never made a rigid schedule because I am of the opinion flexibility is much more helpful than a rigid schedule. This however should be done keeping in mind your small personal targets are met.
