I am a Commerce Graduate from Mumbai University along with Management in Marketing (PGPMS – SIMSR) & Six Sigma Green Belt from KPMG. Currently pursuing PGD SCM from Symbiosis.

Last 13 years, I have been involved in logistical functions of IT distribution, Electronics, Retail, FMCG & 3 PL companies.

Have been involved from setting and managing warehouses, vendor management , demand & supply planning , customer interface , people development & freight savings. Danapaani.com is my own startup organization which is into online grocery retailing alongwith my partners.

  • What is your philosophy towards work?

 Active listening to our Consumers & Understanding their needs and Customer Service   are the key Philosophy of my life.

Key to good customer service are Good quality product , 100% fill rate & timely + safe delivery. Customer preferences & tastes changes every day. Hence it is necessary to be in touch with customers and understand their preference of choice.

 

  • Whom do you admire as your role model? And why?

Samuel Moore Walton – Founder of Walmart Retail Chain is my role model.

Growing up during the Great Economic Depression, before becoming most influential person in the world,Sam Walton had gone through various hardships of life. He did numerous chores to help make financial ends meet for his family. He milked the family cow, bottled the surplus, and drove it to customers. Afterwards, he would deliver Columbia Daily Tribune newspapers on a paper route. In addition, he also sold magazine subscriptions. He was voted “Most Versatile Boy” during school days.

Walton pioneered many concepts in Retail which became crucial to his organizations Success world over. Walton made sure the shelves were consistently stocked with a wide range of goods for consumers.

According to him: There is only 1 BOSS – The CONSUMER & he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else. I truly agree by this concept & implement in my business practice as well.

 

 

  • “Management is core to every individual, organization & society.” Give your views on it.

The old axiom is still true: “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” Thus, create a well-organized and structured business plan and manage it as per planned. Once you have established your vision or goal, follow it up with planning decisions.

Positivism and Motivation play important roles in managing individuals, employee productivity & overall organizational development.

Encourage “Self-Reliance” in the organization. Teamwork is obviously valuable, but individual productivity is just as important. Over all these will reflect positively in our society too.

  • According to you, what are the challenges for Entrepreneurship today?

Entrepreneurship as a multilateral and dynamic process involves numerous challenges.

There are two main challenges, “Innovation Challenge” and “Opportunity Challenge”.

Entrepreneur has to understand that the ability to innovate and seize the opportunities highly depends on the knowledge, skills and creativity of entrepreneur at work. If he or she fails to innovate and recognize an opportunity, competitiveness will decrease, jobs and profits will suffer and, consequently, he or she may be destroyed by those who do it effectively.

Therefore, in order to succeed in his or her efforts to reach the desired goal, an entrepreneur has to be a person of superior ability who pursues his or

her goals despite of obstacles, opposition, setbacks, and failure.

 

  • Can Entrepreneurship be taught in B-Schools/Management Institutes/Colleges?

Great idea and Creative Vision is essential for a successful entrepreneur, but it is not sufficient; this requires many other skills, and for some of them, education helps.

 Out of the 10 different skills needed to become a successful entrepreneur, perhaps only 5 can be taught or enhanced through business education, but those 5 will clearly improve your odds of making it.

I certainly believe that business school education helps, if you want to become a successful entrepreneur. So, I am continuing my PGD in Supply Chain Management from Symbiosis Business School-Pune.

 

  • Is the Name of the Institute from where a student pursues his/her Graduation/Post Graduation or other courses important while setting up your business?

“Learning’s” are most important whether being taught in an Institute of grandeur or Local. Self-Learning’s, Innovative Mind & Creative Vision along with Consumer Insights play a major role in overall business setup.

 

  • Do you think today’s economy is conducive for a new venture to start upon?

Business and industry can be different but the challenges are the same worldwide. With the inflation hitting worldwide in 2009, Market is still struggling for sustainability.

Every day is a new challenge and new learning’s to attain our goals on Customer centricity, Financial results and Resource Management.

 

  • “Earning more & more is the motive behind any business.” Is it justifiable?

More Earnings, Profits results in overall organization,employee,self-development and on a broader view it strengthens the economy of India.

The new Companies Bill has had a tumultuous journey with now atleast 2% of the average net profit of the company made during three previous financial years must be spent on CSR activities . So, now more the profit, more the opportunity of social service and development of society at large.

 

  • Share with us the most enjoyable moment you had experienced on work.

There is not a single one, there are many. But I can share one which touched my heart. A couple of days after opening our online grocery retail store. When grocery was served to a senior citizen, she gave us a hand written note via our delivery boy saying “Thank-You” – God Bless You !

I was very much touched with her blessings and went personally to Thank her at her residence. This small note I have kept in my office which motivates me each day as it is my consumers blessings towards my humble journey of entrepreneurship.

 

BMS.co.in is a very informative site for all management students.Infact, I am also learning new aspects each day as it is helping me understand the new management fundas and keep up to date with new management challenges.
