- Tell us something about yourself.
Presently, I am a published author, my debut fiction came with Srishti in 2011, A Walk down the lane.
I am an ex-banker, served organisations like Citigroup and HSBC, now a homemaker and a mother of a five years old. I did my MBA in HR, from ICFAI. Then writing happened, apart from being a fiction author, i also contribute to some e-zines, printed periodicals in English as well as Hindi, these days I am also helping people with editing and translation services. This keeps me occupied in a decent profession.
- What inspired you to start writing books?
It was nothing specific, but incidental. An incidence in a friend’s life left me wondering about a few things, I penned the same and it turned into a book.
- Do you have any specific writing style?
I am a voracious reader, since childhood I have read a lot of fiction, by International as well Indian authors, I personally felt that in terms of usage of a strong vocabulary, the Indian mass still lag behind, that is the reason why the mass from the smaller towns prefer vernacular reading over English. So I prefer a simple English, mass friendly language of communication.
- Do your books have any message which you want readers to grasp?
Most of my stories, short stories and articles, revolve around people in the neighborhood. I would just like to convey that, every individual is distinct, and not every incident repeats… rather than gossiping and jumping to conclusions always treat incidents as learnings. And make your life better.
- What are your favorite books and why? Favorite films? Favorite music?
The best fiction, I ever read and recommend is P. S. I Love you. For I love love stories. And the other comes from an Indian writer, When Strangers Meet. And I would personally recommend one non fiction to every reader, that is GUNG HO.
Films, I m not very keen, but I watch the ones worth substance.
Music, depends upon the mood, I like every thing. But would prefer Jagjit Singh and Boyzone over all others.
- What are your current projects?
About upcoming fictions there are three projects in pipeline, one is a story which revolves around the abnormal behaviour of a psycho, who is a gay.
Another one is a fiction woven around the ups and downs in the share market, and the third one is a pure love story.
- Give us three “Good to Know” facts about you. Be creative. Tell us about your job, the inspiration for your writing, any fun details that would enliven your page.
I love to make handmade cards and gifts. And support an organisation, with the income that I generate from here.
My friends call me a multitasker. I am a chatter box with friends, helpful and outgoing, but I strictly can not entertain brainless stuff. So also an alien.
The best thing about me is I am human. I never give up. And never lose hope.
Right now managing family and kid is my 24* 7 job and I am enjoying it. My inspiration for writing are the people around. I would love to be an online story teller if I may get a live online audience.
- Your message to the aspiring writers?
Write good, be original, and narrate well! Because books leave a long lasting effect, so be carefull about what you are passing on to the future generation.
