1) Tell us about yourself?
HEY..!!This is Fatima Mukadam. Born & brought up in Chiplun. I have completed my SSC from Christ Jyoti Convent High school & there after my HSC in the commerce stream in DBJ college. Currently studying in TYBMS in the same college. My areas of interest are singing, cooking, writting & ofcourse photography. Also I am very passionate about learning different languages.
2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams?
Ahh…trust me this is the best feeling ever…although i have topped my class in the previous semesters also but this feeling is really special because i topped my class in the university exams which makes a big difference.
3) Whom will you credit your success to?
Firstly, god almighty. The one who created me and gave me the ability and strength to face every phase of my life without any fear. My Mom, dad, elder sister who stood beside me always. My teachers who kept helping and motivating me throughout. And last but not the least my family and friends who were always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
4) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?
Naaah ..not really…I regret though..But I am not a bookworm..I have my own ways of studying…I started preparing 1 month prior to the exams. But practical subjects I definitely started from day one itself…they need a lot of practice..
5) How did you study for Sem V?
Well , my mantra for studies is that “I DONT do it until I don’t feel like doing it, but once I start i make sure I don’t stop until I have accomplished all my targets. I do take short breaks in between where I either close my eyes and sit, talk to my loved ones or just go out for a walk..making sure that I don’t get indulge into any kind of extremely joyful activities like listening to songs or singing, dancing etc because the effects of such things stay on for a long time and its difficult to get back on the track. Preparing for sem 5 took me less than a month. I created self notes after reading each topic trying to ensure that I am absolutely perfect with what I have learnt. The fun part of my learning is that I keep drawing diagrams and pictures which helps me understand better and remember during exams.
6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?
There is nothing like difficult in this world. It’s all upto you and the amount of hard work and dedication you put in to understand things..Do it the right way and you will explore the solutions without any difficulties 🙂 All d subjects were easy..For me the interesting subjects were HRM (because I see my career in HR), SSM(because I am a management student and was always curious to know about what all the service sector included) & FM(love accounts from the very beginning).
7) Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?
Well, I pay utmost attention on the presentation…I write a short introduction para then the meaning and definition for every answer..And then start with the actual content..Writing the sub points separately in an vertical order..And there after explaining them step by step. I do highlight the key words and important points using a single or double underline based on the importance. I also write the conclusions at the end of my answers to make it look more attractive and get some extra marks.
8) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
Case studies are very interesting..I just read the case twice and try to understand its relevance with the topics I have learnt and then link the answer to which ever topic is relevant to the case…Case studies is nothing out of d syllabus.. Just a tricky question where u have to identify which topics answer is to be written..
9) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?
Yes Absolutely I did where ever required, my sir kept telling me before the exams..like I said before Diagrams help you remember the answers better..And it’s appealing to the eyes too..it’s not mandatory, but will definitely help you get some extra piece of marks..
10)Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?
Yeeaahh I did prepare a schedule chart with the help of my exam timetable..Writing in the details about the subjects and the topics to be covered on the specific days..I gave more time to subjects which had no holidays and vice versa..I love overnight studies and special thanks to my mom’s special tea which really helped me stay fresh and kept me up all night long..
11) How do you fight mood swings and distractions during exam preparations ?
I get distracted really soon and knowing this special quality of mine I prepare myself and try to work really hard on it..And the only solution I see is that I stay absolutely away from things that could distract or disappoint me..And even if I am caught with one I try and neglect things and make myself believe that there should be nothing more important than paying attention on my exams.
12) If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
Well, I feel that the Indian education system is too much theoretical based. There must be a combination of theory as well as practical knowledge..Like keeping the students busy with some or the other projects and day to day activities..All these things should be made a part of their syllabus itself..so that each student has active participation..which will improve their communication skills and abilities to think…
13) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?
Look there is nothing like BIG or SMALL …it’s all upto u..Your hardwork, your capabilitiesyou’re your dedication to achieve certain things…if you have all these in you then there is absolutely nothing which can stop u, make you feel down, or affect your confidence…
Even I am from a small town but such thoughts have never haunted me..That’s because I believe in myself…And Every one should..
14) Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition?
It left me with a lot of good thoughts in me..Also that you can achieve almost everything with your hard work and whole hearted dedication..Just love what you are doing..try to find your interest in even things that you don’t like and you will find things happening easily…although competing with others is an effective way for maximum success but that doesn’t really satisfy me …because I believe in competing to myself..I work harder and harder and try to be better than the last time..that is what competition is for me…
15) Your feedback/suggestions for BMS.co.in?
Bms.co.in …you guys are really doing a great job..the information provided on the site are really helpful…thanks for the updates.
And a big thanks for the opportunity of sharing my views and a chance to guide my juniors..
A small piece of advice on the event you are about to organize on my personal experience is that it will b really helpful if you spread the awareness of this academic excellence awards amongst the students prior to the exams..that will create a good competition amongst the students helping them work harder and score more..
THANK YOU…!!!
