Course Name –  BMS

Rank in TY Sem V : 1st

1) Tell us about yourself?

I had taken Commerce as my stream in Jai Hind College. I selected BMS for my graduation as it provides comprehensive and practical management training to students by way of interaction, projects, presentations, industrial visit. I plan to pursue MBA in Finance after BMS.

2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams?

It feels really amazing. Even more when one has given his best but did not expect to top. It’s a real privilege to be recognised.

3) Whom will you credit your success to?

I will definitely credit my parents who believed in me and always motivated to give me my best performance also my elder brother who had also taken BMS and guided me on how to proceed with my syllabus. Also I would credit all my professors of Jai Hind College who regularly kept tests which helped to finish the portion to avoid last minute struggle in finishing the portion. Last but not the least my friends who helped me throughout the semester.

4) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?

Its too early to start preparing from the first day of TY. I had started preparing two weeks before the Prelims which were conducted in the month of September. But since regular tests were held for different subjects it helped to finish some part of the portion well in advance.

5) How did you study for Sem V?

Well subjects like Financial Management and Special Studies in Finance, I had started to prepare them well in advance and had finished the portion by the month of August. Thereafter I concentrated only with the theory subjects

6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?

As for me since my liking is more towards finance and I had prepared well in advance,
F.M and S.S.F were pretty easy for me.

7) Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?

Yes. I write all my answers in bullet points with the head points underlined, and every point explained in few lines. Also I underline the important keywords of my answer.

8) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?

It’s very necessary to know all the concept questions in all the modules. Without having known the concept one cannot solve the case study. Also the case should be read carefully and then apply the concept learned in relation to the situation given in the case.

9) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?

Yes I drew diagrams for most of my answers wherever possible. Though it is not mandatory to draw but it just adds to your presentation which helps in scoring better than an answer without a diagram.

10)Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?

Not really. But as I prepared the practical subjects like FM and SSF well in advance, it helped me later where then I could concentrate more on the theory subjects.

11) How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?

Well I try to keep myself out from any kind of distraction when it comes to preparing for the exams. Otherwise I usually take a break for some hours until I get fresh and then continue studying again.

12) If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?

More of practical subjects and knowledge which could help in the real corporate world should be incorporated in the syllabus. Also I would change the University Exam Pattern back to 60:40. Earlier the internal included Presentations and Field visit which helped the students to gain practical knowledge and present which also helped in improving and gaining confidence in communication skills.
Also Internship should be made compulsory and should be provided by the college.

13) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?

It doesn’t matter from where you belong. If you have self-confidence and you believe in yourself no one can stop you from being successful in life. It is always advisable to look for solutions rather than complaining about the problems.

14) Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition?

It is always good to have a healthy competition which helps one to aim higher in life. Also scoring good marks is not only enough but also one should know his goals.
