Achievements and Extra curriculars

1. Was an active member of the Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (C.M.C.A) for the academic year 2008-09.
2. Completed a basic course on stock market.
3. A member of the student’s council of my college.
4.  Currently the Joint Secretary of Rotaract Club of SIES Sion (W).
5. Public Relations head of Entrepreneurship Development Cell (E.D.C) of my college.
6. Sub-Editor (marketing) for SIES Skyline which is the newsletter of my college.
7. Participated in two live debates on NDTV 24×7 on their primetime show ‘Agenda’.
8. Completed an internship In NDTV 24×7 in the production department.
9. An active volunteer of the Institutional social responsibility cell (ISR) of our college.

(ISR is similar to corporate social responsibility but undertaken at an institutional level. SIES Sion (W) is the first Educational institution in Mumbai which has undertaken an ISR project which involves an active participation of students to groom them into socially and morally responsible citizens.)

What is your Aim/philosophy in life?

I aim at becoming a successful person in the corporate world and earn a lot of respect. My philosophy in life is that success cannot be measured by the money that a person earns but the respect that one gets. So I want to earn both’ Money’ and ‘Respect’.

Future plans after BMS

Thinking of pursuing a master’s degree but confused about the avenue as I am still exploring various avenues I can excel in. Someone said to me ‘If you are confused you are on the right track’ so here I am.

Q2)Fantastic Facts About Your BMS life

Positive/negative things about your college.

• Positives:-

1. Very good and caring BMS coordinator and faculty who keep on encouraging and motivating the students all the time to take up various intra and inter college activities.

2. Regular seminars on various topics conducted for BMS students.

3. Many Extra Curricular activities in college which helps in personality development and exploring ones potential.

4. National and International industrial visits conducted every year.

5. A very co-operative and understanding Principal who regularly interacts with the students and encourages us to take up various initiatives in our college

6. Interactive teaching methods used by faculty which keeps the lectures interesting and keeps the students interested in the lectures.

• Negatives:-

Only negative point is that our college doesn’t have a playground.

Positive/negative things about BMS Course

• Positives:-

1. A professional course which has a lot of market demand.
2. Develops the presentation skills, self confidence and morale of the students.
3. Involves a lot of practical work which makes the course interesting.
4. Develops a lot of professionalism in the students.
5. Develops leadership  qualities in students.

• Negatives :-

1. The recent 75-25 marking system announced by the university will give more importance to theory than practical’s.
2. Subjects just give an overview of the topics and don’t give in depth information about the subject.

Q3) How Has BMS Helped to develop  your personality? What did you learn from BMS?

BMS gave me a lot of exposure. It boosted my self confidence a lot and improved my presentation skills. BMS give me a platform to explore my potential and bring out my talents. It helped me develop a lot of professionalism and efficiency in my work. I am much more confident speaker and a better observer all thanks to BMS.

Q4) What changes do you want to bring in the BMS course?

The old  60-40 marking system was very good. There are many who are good in practical’s but not in theory. So whatever they lack in theory they could make up in practicals. This new marking system will place more importance on theory than practicals.

Q5) What are the thoughts/advices/tips you would like to give to todays youngsters?

Never be afraid of participating with the fear of failure. Remember it’s better to make a fool of yourself now than after you enter the corporate world. Now’s the time to learn so take whatever comes your way and never hesitate to learn new things and take up new activities. You will never know what  you can do unless you try. Put in your best efforts in whatever you do and at the same time ENJOY YOUR COLLEGE LIFE TO THE FULLEST but in a disciplined manner. You’ll know what I mean right? :p
