1) Tell us about yourself?
1) I was a commerce student and chose BMS as I wanted to get into the corporate world. So had options: BCom or BMS. Since BMS is more in depth and is going to benefit more, I thought of going in for the best. After BMS I will work for 2 years and then do a full-time MBA. (It’s difficult to resume studying but I would advise everyone to go in for a full-time MBA with work-experience as it has greater value than a part-time MBA or without work-ex).
2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams?
2) It feels great and special to be a BMS topper. The compliments and rank make you feel that all the hard work, sacrifices, time and effort put in has got back a great reward to me. It’s an experience everyone should strive to achieve.
3) Whom will you credit your success to?
3) I would credit my success to God, myself, family, professors and all those who have in some way or the other encouraged and inspired me to get these marks.
4) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?
4) I did not really start studying from day 1, I would gradually study topics. 2 months before the exam and I started to prepare in full swing for the exams.
5) How did you study for Sem V?
5) I normally study by by-hearting the head points and the matter within i study it by understanding the matter and more or less writing in my own words. The important lines or phrases or words are always mentioned and underlined in the paper. If i am running short of time, i read through and understand the topic so that i can den write in my own words just in case it comes in the exam. FM should be practiced very well. All the sums should be thoroughly known.
6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?
6) Sem 5 has pretty interesting subjects. I think spl studies in marketing and ethics is easy.
7) Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?
7) Its very very important to write the paper in point form. Underline the head points. Leave a line after every point and make your paper look presentable.
8) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
8) One should first read the questions. Then move on to read the case study. If you didn’t understand read it again. First write the theory aspect from the syllabus of the case given. Always link the theory in the subject to the practical aspect of the case study.
9) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?
9) Drawing diagrams in the exam is a compulsory thing. The paper checker gets to know that you have understood and know the answer which fetches you extra marks. Even if the book your studying from doesn’t have a digram, u should make a diagram or a tree diagram representing your head points or answer.
10)Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?
10) I would say each one takes different amounts of time to study. So depending on what you’re comfortable you should allot that much time to studying. At the end of the day, make sure you have completed your portion and know your work on time.
11) How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?
11) I also had many distractions and would get mood swings. But I battled them by forcing myself to concentrate on studying. Don’t push yourself too hard but also don’t let the distractions and mood swings get the better of you or stop you from studying properly. Keep your phone, and all other electronics and gadgets away while studying.
12) If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
12) If I were to make a change in the education system, i would like professors to teach everything with logic and also arrange for students to get exposure to the practical life of their syllabus matter.
13) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?
13)To all those students who lose confidence because they don’t come from big colleges and English medium backgrounds i would say that while getting marks it is not seen which college you belong to. As long as you have studied & written your paper well, you will get the marks deserved. And if you feel your English is not that good, then read the newspapers, talk in English as much. This will help to improve your English.
14) Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition?
14) In the end only hard work, sincerity and dedication pays off. Education helps you in every situation of life. Be it your career, personal life, interactions with others, and so many day to day stuff. So completing your education in the field of your liking and ability is very important. Doing what you like and what your meant for will give you immense satisfaction, happiness and success.
