Interview with Mr. Akhil Aryan, CEO and Co-founder, Ion Education

• Tell us something about yourself?

I started working at age 15, not out of desperation but out of passion to learn in the practical world. Working in industries like Real Estate, Financial Markets, Pharmaceuticals etc.. gave me exposure to various spectrums of work. Now I run a company called Ion Education that imparts practical knowledge to the youth so they don’t have to spend the kind of time I had to put in, to learn things the way they function in the market.

• Tell us something about your company?

Well, Ion Education is India’s first interactive training institute for Financial Markets – Real Estate – Entrepreneurship. Our courses are true to life and focus on making students industry ready. The course tenure includes industry visits and interaction with the elite class of the industry. The network of educated and ambitious students that is created is just the icing on the cake.

• According to you, what is management all about?

For me, management is all about organizing the resources best to its use and working towards our goals efficiently. It involves working to the best of one’s ability in each aspect of the firm and channelizing various outlooks for the effective achievement of our aspirations. A company is said to have a strong management team only when work flows effortlessly.

• Your views on Corporate World?

• What is your philosophy towards work?

For me, quality wins over quantity. We at ION, believe in work well done and not the hours spent behind it. We strive to give 100% in each and every task. Also, work coupled with fun keeps the interest alive and makes the workplace more enjoyable leading to dynamic results.

• Tell us about the most fun you have had on the job?

We at Ion conduct something we like to call a “Social Meet” every month. We invite all our alumni and employees to a common spot and spend some fun time out there. Our PR team always has some innovative games that they make everyone play with prizes to be won. One of the most innovative ones was a social meet in form of a cricket match that all of us played to bond with each other using the spirit of sportsmanship.

• “Earning more and more” is the motive behind doing BMS? Is it justifiable?

History proves from times immemorial, money has never been the driver behind any invention or establishment of the great companies of the world, passion is. Your future rests in your hands. I don’t think I need to say anything more.

• Is the Name of the Institute from where a student does his/her BMS important while entering into corporate world?

Of course it is. Today, an institute name acts like a catalyst for a good job for a student whether BMS or any other course. But to cut to the chase, professional and specialized courses along with the name of the institute, provide better results as it trains you and makes you industry ready.

• What message would you like to give to the students aspiring to work at management level?

Students aspiring to work at management level should know that there’s no substitute for hard work. A well-defined clear vision, enthusiasm, good communication skills, risk taking ability, and a focus on your goal will not only make you indispensible from any company’s management but also ensure your rise to the top.

• If you are hiring a person for a job, what would you look for?

While hiring a person for a job we look for basic knowledge of our product, hunger to excel in life, competence, good communication skills apart from past experience and the motivation to join our firm.
