  • Tell us something about yourself and your college.

I like to keep myself busy, love to help people and learn new skills. My goal in life is to excel in whatever job is given to me. I joined teaching profession in 1988 immediately after my Post Graduation. My love for teaching goes back to my childhood days when I used to play the role of a teacher and my friends used to be my students. Teaching makes me feel happy as you can touch the lives of people and inspire them. I started as a teacher in Junior college and then joined N.M. College (Degree).

My association with Mulund College of Commerce is since the last 6 years. The college is good and the quality of students is above average and performs well. We also have a Placement cell which is very active. Working is fun in MCC as the college culture is encouraging. Everybody works like a close knit team and lot of freedom is given to implement new ideas.

  • As a Coordinator, do you also teach any subjects? What is your teaching philosophy?

Yes, I teach many subjects – Human Resource Management, Business Communication, Strategic Management, Research Methodology, Foundation of Human Skills, Principles of Management, and Business Environment.

“A good teacher should not only show light to others but she should also strive for her development and keep shining always.”

My teaching philosophy is to create a curiosity in the minds of my students, to know more about the subject and to make an impact of the application of my subjects.

I feel that students should work upon projects which are live i.e. collecting primary data and not downloading information from Internet all the time. This will enhance their interpersonal skills.

One touching incident that happened in my teaching career I remember of an incident where some of my students influenced by my Environmental Management lecture, started an E-Waste collection business by contacting the Chairman of Eco-Reco Recycling Company who had visited MCC as a Guest lecturer in my subject.

Alumni are in constant touch with me and sometime they do come to college to share their experiences. There are many students who have a special place in my heart – Siddesh Sawant, Rakesh Patil, Shweta Shet.

  • How are the roles and responsibilities of a Coordinator different from that of a faculty?

As the Coordinator my job is to keep my team together, motivate everyone – students as well as faculties to give their best and see that everyone develops as a person. Both the roles help me in shaping the lives of many people.

  • Tell us something about your college fests/events/extra-curricular activities?

In our college we have an intra-collegiate event related to social causes “I Can Change” and also an inter-collegiate event “Inspira”. Participating in such events grooms the students and brings out hidden potential in them. Hence, BMS Students should participate in College fests because it hones their leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • What message would you like to give to BMS students?

BMS course is a little hectic, but at the end of it you will be totally transformed. You should interact more in classroom and use more reference books. BMS education must be seen by you as an opportunity to improve your personality and develop skills. After BMS, having work experience is definitely advisable before starting MBA, because it helps to understand the proper perspective of theoretical concepts. You should also work hard and prepare well to face today’s competition. Teachers and parents support will always be there to help you prepare better to face the challenges in life.

  • Your suggestions/feedback for BMS.co.in?

You are doing a marvelous job by connecting so many BMS faculties and students. You may think in lines of offering workshops to students related to personality development, CV writing facing interviews etc
