2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams?
Great! And with Autonomy standards, Superb!
3) Whom will you credit your success to?
Haha. Myself, obviously! But on a serious note, not much could be done without the guidance of our brilliant faculty at Xaviers.
4) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?
No. Not the studious type! But made sure paid attention in class during lectures and jotted down relevant examples discussed.
5) How did you study for Sem V?
Apart from the course related matter recommended by the teacher, extra learning matter, case studies over the Internet proved handy in formulating the answer.
6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?
BMS is an easy course in general.
7) Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?
Intro, body, conclusion is the standard I followed. Paragraphs are a strict No No. Everything has to be in pointers with explanation (again in pointers) under each sub topic.
8) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
Think of the problems, its ideal course of action, the deviation and then remedy.
9) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?
It’s not mandatory but does make your answer look beautiful. I did draw diagrams wherever possible. Unless explicitly asked for in the question, I would leave space for the diagram (by starting every answer on a new page) and then after completing the paper, come back and draw it. Attempting every question is more important than beautifying the paper!
10)Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?
No. It’s a mix and it really depends on my mood. Never stick to time tables.
11) How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?
Well, I let my distractions play on me. After wasting a lot of time, I would just naturally get guilt trapped and study more efficiently. What I normally cover in 3 hours would then be covered in 1.5!
12) If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
Well although there is a lot of practicality in every subject incorporated in Xaviers, I would urge the board to make it still more practical. Syllabus wise, Xaviers has done justice under Autonomy.
13) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?
Ah. Yes, big institutes are good to be a part of, but it’s not a necessity. After a point, it’s your own caliber that makes who you are.
14) Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition?
Over the years I’ve realized that everything largely depends on destiny. What has to happen will happen, no matter what!
