Interview with Shloka Nayak, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2014-15, Tolani College

1) Tell us about yourself?

1) Initially, I had no track of why I joined BMS. But later on I realized that this course is the best that anyone could do for one’s overall personality development.

 2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams? 

2) It undoubtedly feels wonderful and proud.. but I still feel I can reach higher summits 🙂

3) Whom will you credit your success to? 

3) My teachers, parents friends and myself have contributed to my success today..

4) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?

4) To be very honest, it was not since the first day that I started studying. But yes, I did my bit everyday… as simple as completing assignments on time, attending lectures regularly and practicing thoroughly!

5) How did you study for Sem V? 

5) Financial management is a subject which needs to be practiced on a regular basis to crack it since it is perceived to be the most risky and tough examination, which in reality, is not..
For other subjects.. regular reading helps a lot one day prior to ur examination.

6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?

6) No such subject is either easy or tough.. all require equal attention
7) Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?

7) It is much preferred to write answers in bullets since it adds convenience to the moderators to check it.

8) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?

8) Read the case well, understand it and apply the concepts you have learnt in the entire syllabus for which you should be well versed with your concepts.

9) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?

9) It quintessentially adds value to what you have written and gives u a competitive edge over others.

10)Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?
10) No such study patterns. I do not believe in framing time tables. I do what I feel like doing but also ensure all subjects are done at par.

11) How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?

11) It is quite natural to feel nervous, depressed or panicky. The best way to calm yourself is to trust yourself. Have faith, you will do it right at the examination 🙂

12) If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
12) The most important change that I would want to implement is to concentrate on the
practical aspects and application of what we learnt which would lead to overall personality development.. rather than clinging to the subjective knowledge.

13) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?

13) My message to them would be.. BE CONFIDENT about yourself… respect yourself, your knowledge and your efforts and try and improve on your loopholes..

  14) Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition? 

14) This entire course has been a transition for me and I have seen myself improving all through it.. The key is to take up challenges confidently and let opportunities make way.
