Tell us about yourself.
Hi, my name is Tasneem. I am currently pursuing BMS from Jai Hind College, Mumbai. From a very young age (probably since grade 5) I have had a very strong inclination towards studies. And hence I would like to say that I love studying and that books are my best friends.
Tell us about your college.
For me, Jai Hind is not only a college but a way of life. You can learn so much each day in college not just with respect to your studies but in each and every aspect of life. My college has allowed me to grow as an individual. My happiest moment associated with Jai Hind College is getting admission into it. It was a dream come true for me.
When did you join BMS?
I am currently studying in FYBMS so I am about almost 6 months old into the course. I have always loved managing things be it a birthday party, dad’s office accounts (although he has a manager), cousin’s wedding events, etc. so this thought struck me why not study business management and pursue it as a career.
According to you, what is BMS? As a student, what changes would you like to bring in Indian education system?
BMS is all about managing yourself and business. I think Indian education system should focus more on the practical understanding of the topics rather than just focusing on the theoretical aspect of the topic
Who in your life has influenced the most?
I am a constant learner. I continuously observe and learn things. There have been so many people till date who have influenced me in some or the other way starting from my mom to my teacher in 9th grade to Bill Gates, the list goes on.
If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
I would like to change the 75-25 marks grading system back to 60-40 marks, just kidding. I don’t want to become the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University.
Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?
It is not about from where you come or what language you speak, it is about where you wish to reach and what you desire to achieve. Do not fear anything unless it’s your mom’s phone call.
What would you advice someone planning to do BMS?
BMS is a great learning course. Do it diligently and sincerely and only if you wish to do it. It will lead you to the right path.
3 Questions you would like to ask an MBA?
