Dressed in my favourite blue top and I’ve let my hair down. I take a glance at my watch, it’s 10:20. I don’t wanna be too early nor do I want to be the one who makes a late entry. 10:20 it is, I take the stairs, my journey lasts for six floors. Drenched in sweat I make my way to 606, the class where my entire BMS life is gonna be spent. I recheck my attire and enter the class. To my surprise, there are only three people who look at me in a strange way. Yes people, I am the new addition to your class. I got my admission a month after regular lectures had begun, so it was no wonder when people looked at me in a questioning way. I introduced myself and they did the same. The conversation was short and formal, yeah obviously I wasn’t gonna make BFFs on the very first day. I came to know that the other people (class minus 4 of us) had gone for a treasure hunt event and were supposed to be returning in an hour and the lectures would start then.
The hour passed and people kept coming in the class. All were giving me second glances full of surprise. Some came to me and asked me my name, the class seemed friendly. Unfortunately there was no time to socialize as the lecture was about to begin. The sad part was that my very first BMS class was that of law. It turned out to be quite boring and I dislike the subject to date. The class seemed to be matching my mood as people were very distracted. Some were busy talking, some were glued to their cell phones while some were trying to make sense of what was going on and some (me) were observing everyone around. During those first days of college I did make some friends, who still remain close ones.
Almost a year has passed since I first arrived at 606, all confused and nervous. Now I realise how much things have changed. The once strangers have now become friends. The class, where a year back I felt out of place has now become my class!
