Manchester United have bought heavily this season. United needed personnel to get back among the big boys after last season’s poor performance which saw them finish 7th in the Barclays Premier League. Many United players retired or left the club this season including Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Ryan Giggs. It was clear United had to buy players to get back to the top. United appointed a very experienced and top class manager in Louis Van Gaal and the main thing Van Gaal has to do is to assemble the team and bring back the confidence and the swagger, trophies will eventually arrive.
LvG did a great job in buying players this season. United needed Midfielders and Defenders and Man Utd bought 2 defenders in Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw, while 2 midfielders in versatile Daley Blind and Ander Herrera. These players are not the world class players but they are good enough to improve this current United team and fill the void. Van Gaal also bought 2 more players, 2 more significant signings which the whole football world will have a close look at. The record breaking signing of Angel Di Maria for 57million while 1 year loan of Radamel Falcao and instantly after these 2 arrivals United started looking much stronger than they used to be. These 2 players are just not any players, these are world class players who will improve Man Utd significantly. Angel Di Maria had a stellar last season with Real Madrid and Radamel Falcao though was injured last season was one of the best strikers in the before his injury.
Di Maria and Falcao have joined the already strong world class attack of Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie. Imagine a team consisting of 5 world class attackers who can improve arguably any team’s attack and inclusion of young Adnan Januzaj and this team’s attack has become a ‘Galacticos’. Popular word used for Real Madrid who always had the superstars and most popular players in their team. But with the power of money and the brand of Manchester United with Louis Van Gaal, the Red Devil’s attack looks more like a ‘Gaal-acticos’. It is upto LvG’s capability of gelling these superstars and building the best attacking team on the planet, which will take time in LvG’s own words it will take ‘3 months’. Red Devils and the football fans in general have to just wait and watch whether the new Gaal-acticos break it or make it.
