A high-end or a budget Smartphone or mid-level device, all of them need security. Data carried in them is sensitive or may be confidential. Here, the no need is referring to Google’s mobile operating system, the Android. Yes, antivirus is not much required in a Smartphone because Google itself has application verification software which all the Smartphone users aren’t aware and the first thing installed in newly bought software is WhatsApp (laughed off) followed by an antivirus software say AVG, Avira or Avast and more popular providers.
Google has done its fair share of making sure that your Smartphone does not require antivirus software. Having an official Android OS is the only requirement, as the Google Play Services is installed already. Tapping on the “Verify Apps” from there activates the toogle as shown in the image below.
If you attempt to install an app from any source while app verification is turned on, your device may send information denying the app to Google. That means side- loading apps from sources other than Play Store is literally the best way you can get malware on your Smartphone. That’s where the option you have selected comes in. The app will walk you through the whole process in the background, all without getting in the way.
Having both antivirus software and the Play services app installed is having two same apps in your phone. The downsides of having same app is effect on the performance and the battery life.
