Pinki Jangra a young aspiring boxer from Hisar Hariyana shares her story after winning against the famous women boxer Mary Kom. Pinki considers this win as an upset win compared to her first win back in 2009 over Olympic bronze-medallist Mary Kom may be because she feels that since Mary Kom has just returned after enjoying motherhood on the recent birth of her girl child. This is what we consider as a true sportsmen’s spirit showed by Pinki Jangra.
According to her past records in boxing we come to know that back in 2009, Jangra then an unheralded 19 year old, had beaten Mary in the quarters for of the Nationals. She says “That win against Mary didi was a turning point of my career. When I beat Mary didi, I started to believe that I belonged to this level. My goals changed. I wanted to take part and win medals at the Worlds and Olympics.”
The reason why Jangra is in boxing is just because of her elder brothers Ashwini and Amit. Though her parents weren’t against of her choosing boxing as a career but were concern about her health and safety since boxing can sometime involve serious injuries. But eventually her brothers convinced her parents and now she solely gives the credit to her family especially her brothers for her success and appreciates their support from the bottom of her heart.
