Dr. Sanjeev Balyan, the Minister of State with Independent charge in the Modi cabinet, has been a veterinary surgeon in Haryana. Before foraying into politics, he has also worked as an assistant professor at the Haryana Agricultural University. This Hisar based University is the same from which Dr. Baliyan completed his PhD in Veterinary Anatomy.
Dr. Balyan quit his job in 2012 and joined BJP to fulfill his political ambitions. At the same time, he also forayed into business by becoming a partner in a real-estate firm.
Dr. Baliyan fought the 2014 general elections from the Muzaffanagar constituency in Uttar Pradesh on a BJP ticket and won by a margin of four lakh votes.
Dr. Balyan is also one of the 2013 Muzaffanagar riot accused, while the BJP maintains that he is being by the U.P. Government for the vote bank politics.
