Mr. Rajagopal, a Senior Manager at Hind Petroleum Ltd, will retire after five years. He has been handling technical operations at the company’s plant during the last 25 years. He is known for his sincerity, hardworking and innovative approach. These traits have enabled him to win the “Best Manager Award”.
His daughter is already married and his son has just taken up his first assignment at Siemens India Ltd. He has got a house at his native place which is lying without any use. Mr. Rajagopal has been staying in the company’s flat for the last fifteen years in Mumbai.
He is an Engineering Graduate and has participated in many Management Development Programmes sponsored by his company. Recently he got himself associated with the theme of ‘Total Quality Management’, being implemented in his company and designed all the preparatory papers.
He is now planning on his post-retirement period. Physically he is very fit and believes in “Total Health Management”. He devotes an hour daily for physical exercises. He is confident of his technical knowledge. What he lacks in him is the presentation and communication skills. He is poor at public relations. He knows that is essential for him to have some managerial training through a formal management programme. He has decided to be professionally active, even after retirement. He has thought of a few avenues like consultancy, training, executive operations etc.
