Two and a half year of my BMS course flew by like a vacation full of challenges and adventure. Having completed schooling and entering college itself was a challenging task which grew in strength with each passing day. Both school and college are infinite resources of knowledge but totally differ in works. Both are like two sides of the same coin where students stick to the same solid metallic base of knowledge but like the opposite faces of the coin they differ a lot. While school is more about disciplined education, college is more about the freedom of thoughts achieved through learning. College is like a dream land without boundaries were we get full opportunities to explore the real world which is very different from books. However, this would not be possible without the core element of college i.e. Professors. In 20 years of my life I have been influenced by many people around me who majorly include my parents, teachers, friends or society. All have contributed immensely in making me the person I am today. I met best of professors’ throughout my academic year for BMS course yet Prof. Bhavana Chauhan Lad, my Professor for Accounts and Human Resource Management holds a very special place in my memories and life.

Having completed my studies in science stream and shifting my base from science to commerce was a real task at hand. I still remember the very first day of my college, all worries and confused about everything. My constant focus was to be at par with students and academics. Though I knew what BMS meant, I was not sure if I could make through it successfully.

My official introduction to Prof. Bhavan Chauhan Lad and Accounts subject was on the very same day, and from that day journal and ledgers were not the same. She was my Professor for Accounts and Finance and I am sure of not asking for someone better than her. Having completed her Post Graduation she also holds some prestigious degrees such as JRF and NET. She has worked for Corporate house in Accounts department. Her practical experience and knowledge by working in corporate has made her stand tall amongst all other professors. She not only explained and taught us accounts but also told us their practical applications in corporate, their implementation and usage. Her lectures not only comprise of syllabus studies but also give us a lot of extra knowledge related to the topic. I bet journal and ledger entries were never this easy before which made a big fan of her. With education and experience what makes her an exception is her level of commitment and dedication which inspired me and still continues to inspire many others and the process will stay on.

Her teaching methods are very different and unique from other Professors. She teaches every aspect of the subject in detail with keen applications which makes the subject interesting. I cannot explain the kind of relief I felt when I scored well in Accounts which was considerably higher than other subjects and continued to improve with every semester. She has inspired me to take up finance for my final year and the credit of my decision to continue my higher studies in finance goes to her.

Her knowledge is not only confined to accounts but has also explored other areas such as Human Resource Management. She was my Human Resource Management professor for 5th semester. Just like Accounts and finance, she made this subject seem equally easy. She provided us thorough knowledge about the subject which is evident from the fact that her book on Human Resource Management was published by a renowned academic book Publishing house Sheth Publishers Pvt. Ltd. and is used as a guide by students who appear for fifth semester examinations.

She is my Professor for Indian Management Thoughts and Practice (IMTP) for semester 6. Though the semester has just begun I am still very sure my score in IMTP will be high. Her interest in almost all subjects shows her versatile knowledge ability to handle important subjects with huge interest and care. She is truly a gifted teacher.

Besides her qualifications and teaching skills she is an excellent person with ravishing persona. She is a woman with high level of spirit, frank attitude and loves taking up challenges in life. Her other side of nature came into picture during our industrial tour to Chandigarh and Shimla in January 2012. Due to bad weather conditions all students were suffering from serious health issues. At such an hour of emergency she stood firmly for all. Her presence of mind and helping nature and proper co-ordination with other professors and tour guides helped all of us to get through the situation safely.

All words in the world will fall short to put down my memories and feeling on paper. Still I would like to use this essay as a media to thank her for inspiring me and will cherish all her memories forever. I would like to end this journey of me with my Best professor on paper with a famous quote by William Arthur Ward.

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”

And truly Prof. Bhavana Chauhan Lad is my inspiration and will continue to be the same forever…
