A teacher is an idol for learning, a motivator, a facilitator, a friend, a guide to the students. They are more than GOD as said in our HINDU VEDIC PURANAS. They are the person whom we always look upon and so we always cherish them and want to be like them. A teacher affects eternity, they can never tell where their influence stops. Therefore, we can say they are the one who influences the young minds to achieve something in their lives. Hence, they are a role model to the students. They not only impart knowledge related to books but also instill good values, moral and character. In total a teacher is the one who can bring change in behavior of their students. They play a very important role in developing young minds and since we all know that youth are the future of the nation they have this very important responsibility of developing the nation.

“A teacher is the one who gives you something to take home to think about besides home work.” Such an inspiring teacher is Prof. Corina D’souza. She has done double M.A in the subject Geography from Mumbai University and Aurangabad University. She has been in the teaching field since last 6 years and joined the B.M.S department of D. G. Ruparel College of Arts, Science and Commerce since last 3 years. She also served other colleges as a visiting faculty which includes NM College, MK College and SRS College. Before getting into the teaching profession she was in the corporate world for 4 years. She has worked with the reputed companies like Lacoste and AND India.
She taught us Foundation of Human Skills in the first semester, Managerial Economics and Environmental Management in the second semester, Strategic Management in the third semester.
She explains the topics sometimes through Power Point Presentation and makes the concepts and theories very simpler for us. She dictates notes which are easy and very helpful to study. She also gives us questions at the end of all the units. She is very helpful and caring about all the students. She is a gem of a person; she always smiles and also makes others smile. She has a very good sense of humor. She is very friendly, sweet, beautiful, adorable and an approachable teacher. She is the one whom you can approach with your doubts or problems.
Being a B.M.S student, presentation is a very important aspect in our course. I remember doing my first presentation I was very much nervous. And when I was presenting for the first time the way Corina Ma’am was listening motivated me to speak out my ideas promptly. She always motivates everyone with her non-verbal gesture.
In the second semester for the subject Managerial Economics she said all of us to select one product. Study its demand, the factors affecting demand and the type of demand suitable for the product and give an overall presentation. It was really fun and a practical assignment. We all students had visited the industry, shops irrespective of the product chosen. Then we presented about it. It was really exciting listening to everyone’s experience. Similarly for the subject Environmental Management we were told to make a model on the given topic and later on present and tell about the model. In this assignment we were supposed to work in groups which inculcated team spirit in us, we learnt how to divide the work and coordinate with each other and get the work done.
Both the assignments helped us in developing our personalities. We could actually learn how to apply the principles and theories we are learning. Therefore, we gained the practical knowledge.
Prof. Corina is a friend, fun loving, inspiring and motivating person. I really cherish everything that I have learnt from her and because of her.
“Teacher is just like a shadow of God.” Respect them and love them.
