“Guru Brahma guru Vishnu Guru Devon Maheshvaraha
Guru Shakshat Parat Brahma Tasmai Shri Mahesh Varaha”
The above lines will definitely be having a special place in the heart of many Students and I am no exception. It is true that my parents have given me life but it is equally true that my guru is my guide and my best friend. As one commences his journey of life he may in the beginning lack the knowledge about the importance of a guide in his life. But when one enters in one of the most crucial phase of his life he starts realizing the need, the importance and the blessings of having a professor who is always there to guide you. When I entered this crucial phase i.e., when I started with my graduation through BMS I just knew nothing. As the BMS course commenced with the presentations, the internals, the projects, the assignments, extra-curricular and not to forget the hard nut to crack the external, I just couldn’t manage my studies. For me there was neither proper Time management nor I was able to set a target and focus on my studies.
It’s then when a helping hand came towards me. She was the professor from my own dear college. She noticed my loneliness and the sadness on my face. She came to me as a friend and without asking me my problem gave me the keys to all my problems as if she just read my mind. She was the only professor with whom I started sharing my difficulties and in no time she with her beautiful suggestions and advices made me more confident and focused student. As one can predict a typical Bollywood movie she became my Hero. Thus, my most amiable BMS professor is “Mrs. Gauri Joglekar”.
She is the sweetest professor in my college, with a very good qualification to add to her praise list. She has completed B.E Electrical, PGDM in operations from Symbiosis and also pursuing MBA in operations. She has an experience in working with reputed Companies like Siemens Kalwa Plant in the department of Quality design and Calibration Laboratory for a good 5 years and many more. She has been teaching to diploma engineering students for 3 years and she has been associated with BMS for past 4 years and moderator at Mumbai University. She has always shared her real life examples with us. Her qualification and experience has benefited us not only in our studies but also in our life. She is a professor who has the pool of knowledge and skills to deliver this knowledge for the good of others.
She has been teaching me subjects like Elements of logistics and Supply chain Management, Production and Quality management, Statistics, Operations Research. All these subjects are practical–oriented and not just theory-based and this is what she has been telling me in every lecture. She has always tried and made her teaching simple and at the same time maintained the qualitative teaching with the help of live incidents and technicalities. She believes in innovation and being flexible and hence, she keeps on experimenting with different methods of teaching. She uses board and chalk method, power point presentations, live case study solving, current affair related assignments, videos, group discussions, extempore, Role plays and many times arranges guest lectures and seminars for us. She is not amongst those professors who just focus on the educational aspect but rather she focuses equally on both education as well as the co-curricular activities. She has been encouraging all the students to participate in maximum number of activities not with the motive to Win but with the motive to learn something new. She believe every competition, every management games, every discussions helps us learn something new. She has always been saying, “NO ONE KNOWS EVERYTHING BUT EVERYONE KNOWS SOMETHING TO TEACH YOU” and has motivated us to discuss about atleast 5 new management Strategies every day and learn something new every day.
She has been the backbone for organising the grand event “INSPIRA” for all the BMS students in my college. She was amongst the eminent visionaries who wanted BMS students to get a platform to present their talents and calibre which was not only study related but would improve the students intra-personal skills and most important soft skills. I myself associated with INSPIRA as the Marketing head for first year and also with the Public relations activity. This event has given me a chance to know and learn a lot which I could have never learnt from my books. Besides INSPIRA she has been also arranging various management games, seminar and short duration visits for us “TO MAKE STUDY–REAL FUN TO LEARN”. She has motivated me in my every step of life. It’s just like she has all the solutions to the difficulties and problems that I may even not had imagined or thought about. And as of now we know each other for almost 3 years where she has been aiding me in my studies and the most important she taught me to balance my studies and my personal life. I think that’s what most crucial job is for a professor– Teaching someone the “Real Management” and helping someone to imply the principles of management that is in book in our real lives.
I would like to conclude my writing with saying, I am sure it’s not only me for whom Prof. Gauri is a Hero but she is like second mother to me. She is not preparing me for my BMS exams but she is moulding me to be a future manager. She has been guiding me in every step as to how to pursuit my MBA in operations. She counselled me with the opportunities available for me after my BMS graduation. Not only counselling but she also helped me in my preparations for CAT exam and other few competitive exams. She informs me about the various seminars at different locations for me to attain to help me develop as an efficient manager. I am very grateful to God for blessing me with such a wonderful professor in this life. And will definitely give every credit of my success to Prof. Gauri for her silent prayers and strong support and wish all Management students find such an amazing professor who can understand the needs and problems of students.
