Prof. Rupal Shroff

Choosing a favorite teacher is fairly difficult when one puts into account all the types of teachers they have known, all of them are important. Teachers are the second most important people in our lives, right after our parents. Teachers are persuasive and have the power to build a child up from an immature student to become a responsible adult.

My teacher and my inspiration is Prof. RUPAL SHROFF, a full time faculty at THAKUR COLLEGE OF SCIENCE & COMMERCE B.M.S Department and a Master in Marketing Management and has an overall experience of five years in Industry and Teaching. She takes up subjects like Marketing Management, Rural & Co-operative Management, Service Sector Management, and Entrepreneurship Management & International Marketing.

The first time I met her when I was in First Year of BMS, although she wasn’t teaching us in 1^st year, she guided us in many extra-curricular activities like participating in Inter College Festivals and in helping the seniors in their research work so that we can get an experience in research.

Then came the second year when she was appointed as our Class Teacher and taught us Marketing Management. I always thought that marketing was a boring subject to study, I thought everything in marketing was associated with advertising but when she started teaching us, I came to know the that marketing isn’t only about advertising it is far greater subject.

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”

Her teaching style is so different and inspiring than other teachers; I can’t recollect a single lecture where she haven’t discussed or have linked the current issues with our syllabus, her motto is to make the students not only aware about the current situation but also make the students able to solve the issues.

They say BMS is all about “ Boring Presentations” but let me tell you the “Presentations” which we students gave on her subject was on live company issues. I remember when she introduced to us to a company who were struggling in their marketing strategy; we students got an amazing experience in designing their marketing plan. Our “Presentation” included skits and road shows at a time.

I think all this kind of experience was priceless for me. When I joined an internship in a firm as a Junior Marketing Manager, her marketing techniques and strategies always helped in gaining an upper hand over my subordinates. Even my boss was impressed with the way I completed my target. Truly the day I felt that I have been guided by great teachers.

I have come to a belief that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are as few as there are any other great artists. Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit and I think Teaching is a similar art like pottery, if a teacher molds a student carefully his/her student will always excel. I feel great that I have been molded by one of the best Teacher or should I say Potter.

“It is a supreme Art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”
