Well well well,Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has found himself embroiled in yet another controversy as the BJP has claimed that Rahul was caught napping in Parliament on last Wednesday. Wait a second,Rahul Gandhi was the Prime Ministrial candidate? well,that’s unfortunate!
Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi was caught doozing off in the Lok Sabha.Though his catnapping last for only a few seconds,the candid camera moment sparked off a war of words between the BJP and Congress. BJP’s Shahnawaz Hussain tweeted “Rahul Gandhi was seen sleeping in Parliament during a debate on price rise. That’s what the Congress was doing during their 10 yr rule.”
During the ongoing debate on price rise P Karunakaran of the CPM,the second speaker from the opposition started his arguments, Gandhi was seen yawning and his eye lids were dropping and his head flopped,all actions associated with an disinterested listener drifting off to sleep. Since Gandhi’s catnap lasted barely a few seconds, it escaped the notice of most members but was captured by the Lok Sabha cameras. In fact, Rahul’s placement right behind Karunakaran ensured that they appeared in the same frame as the Kerala leader put forth his arguments on price rise.
Reacting to the BJP’s Shahnawaz Hussain tweet Congress leader Shukla retorted that BJP had no right to target Rahul over an issue as trivial and frivolous as a catnap.”A lot of BJP MPs keep dozing off during important debates. Even Atal Bihari Vajpayee use to shut his eyes in a “patient hearing” of the debate … Rahul may have been doing the same,” said Shukla. Even Congress allies like NCP sprung to Rahul’s defense, with party leader Praful Patel stating that “just because people close their eyes in Parliament doesn’t mean they are sleeping”.
Though catnapping might not be a major issue,what matters to a nation like India,from its politicians is, the seriousness and dedication towards their work,aspiration to uplift the whole nation in not only economic but also in social sense. Won’t foreign people make fun and laugh by saying “hey,did you hear that one politician was sleeping during a very serious debate. .haha India really sucks”. Just think over this-how would this catnap affect the status of India overseas??
