This article basically speaks about the cast system followed by Indian society and Indian government. A lot of controversy being created in recent period regarding cast system. Cast system is a system where certain percentage of preference is given to backward sections of society namely OBC, SC, ST, etc. . This system is being followed since decades but today the society is changed, is there any need to still follow this system ? Students with low capabilities are getting undue advantage. A reserved student getting minimal of 55% gets admission in top college whereas a deserved student with 75% is still roaming for admission. there is simple logic a student with 75% is much better than student with 55% ultimately a deserved student ends up getting admission in a cheap college or changing his field of study .also there is vast difference in fees structure as well.no one can judge anyone whether one is OBC ST or ST by looking at them.
According to me there is no need to follow this cast system in developing country like India on one hand we are speaking about equality and racism on the other hand by following cast system we are our self promoting racism. Merit should be the criteria on which ability of student should be judged. Cast system is acting as barrier to economic and social growth of our country. Politicians are afraid to enter this topic in manifesto because of their vote banks will be affected.
38% of doctors in USA are Indians
36% of NASA scientists are Indians
24% of MICROSOFT employees are Indians
28% of IMB employees are Indians
17% of INTEL employees are Indians
The above figures are the result of this so called cast reservation system
Indian government should think about this most underrated issue and take action just by giving motivational speeches won’t help.
