Interview with Shruti Sunil Mody, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013-14, Thakur College of Science and Commerce who scored 81% and GPA Score –6.86
How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?
It feels amazing to be a topper and at the same time motivates me and makes me responsible to work harder for sem 6.My success mantra is only WHATEVER YOU DO DO IT WITH SINCERITY AND DEDICATION. For my success I would first like to thank my entire BMS faculty of my college for their hardwork, excellent teaching and most importantly their guidance. Also my tuition professor for all his help and guidance. Secondly my family for all their support and motivation and lastly to all my dear friends who have always been my strong pillars.
Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?
I do not believe in making a time table but I believe in regular studying and more importantly solving doubts as soon as they come. Leaving a doubt or an uncleared concept for later always remains uncleared. At the same time its important to do what you like and remove time for relaxation. For me listening to music and cooking was the relaxation therapy.
Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
Yes I had joined coaching for my practical subjects as I am a little weak with numbers. However that does not mean everyone must join. It is totally subjective.
What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?
My specialization was finance. I chose finance as I believe that all of us should have atleast a basic financial knowledge and finance is something that is always going to be with you even if you are a housewife.
Can you list the textbooks you referred for all subjects?
I have referred to reference books from my college library written by international authors. For general reference Rishabh publications would suffice.
Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?
My worst paper was FM but I scored reasonably well in it. My best paper was HRM as it was 1 of my favourite subject and I enjoy studying the same. I like communicating and being among people and that makes me like the subject too.
Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
Results is not the end of life. There are many more tougher life exams we need to crack. Stress management comes from within. Whenever you feel stressed or depressed just remember SOMEONE SOMEWHERE IS FACING MORE PROBLEMS THAN YOU DO. Just ask the Almighty to help you and everything will be perfect.
The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.
It was simply amazing and full of hardwork. You get to learn how to make professional projects, how to answer and you understand a concept better as you do the research on your own. It feels amazing to hold your black book. It significantly added to my %.
Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS? What are your future plans?
No I did not do any additional course or internship. I have been placed in JP Morgan chase and I wish to have a job experience before I pursue my MBA in HR.
Any tips and advises for your juniors?
Study well and work hard. Don’t worry about what will happen. If you put your best you will surely get the best.Please consult your teachers and read good books. Write examples wherever you can. ALL THE BEST AND WE WOULD BE AWAITING FOR YOUR INTERVIEWS SOON….
