The students’ wing of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) won the Mumbai University’s Student Council Elections held on Wednesday.
Reshma Patil, a student of Prahladrai Dalmia Lions College, Malad was elected as Chairperson and
Piyush Jhende, a student of CHM College, Ulhasnagar, was elected as Secretary of the Students’ Council
Of the 14 members, 9 voted for MNVS, Reshma Patil and Piyush Jhende, supported by MNVS won by 4 votes each. The opposition students were Swami Nandini, a student of DEd College, Panvel, and Pranav Bhatt, a student of Mithibai College, Vile Parle backed by National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress.
Few weeks ago, 4 female candidates , backed by Yuva Sena, withdrew from the election process because they were threatened by political parties.
