Before the results of the national and state elections are counted, some political parties in Andhra Pradesh claim they know the verdict. In the municipal or local elections, whose results are being counted today, they see a portent.
In Seemandhra, it’s Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party or TDP that is the big hitter. In Telangana, the region the result will be out on June 2 as India’s youngest state, the Congress is ahead.
The BJP,  is expected to get the most seats in the national election, has taken Mr. Naidu on their side.
Elections of 146 municipalities and 10 corporations were held on March 30. The  votes in urban areas were counted today and tomorrow the results for rural local body elections will be out.
For now, in Seemandhra, Mr Naidu’s TDP is ahead of its nearest rival the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) while the Congress has been wiped out because public are angry over the decision to split Andhra Pradesh.
Mr Naidu tweeted “The Municipal & Corporation election results show TDP’s victory has mirrored peoples’ confidence towards development & effective governance.”
