Selfie needs to no explanation. This term is a rage hit between people, there is a need to share some facts about the existence and the use of the term. A self-portrait photograph, today known as a ‘Selfie’ was first taken in 1839; 25 years less in 200 years. The term has become famous now-a-days because of the increase Selfie uploads on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, Flickr and many more.
Robert Cornelius, an American pioneer in photography clicked the first known Selfie of himself in 1839. It was a daguerreotype image which is formed on a highly polished sliver surface. Russian princess Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova was the first teenager to click a selfie using a mirror at the age of 13 in 1914.
Selfie was discussed by photographer Jim Krause in 2005. By 2013, the word “selfie” had become commonplace enough to be monitored for inclusion inj the online version of the Oxford English Dictionary. In November 2013, the word “selfie” was announced as being the “word of the year” by the Oxford English Dictionary. The term was given an Australian origin.
Selfies have also been taken beyond the Earth. A selfie taken by astronauts in the space is known as a space selfie. Celebrity’s selfie, Politician’s selfie, controversial Funeral selfie, Bathroom selfies, etc. are some more types of self clicked photos by people.
