Sholay the best Indian film ever made this was the appreciation given to the movie by British Film Institute in 2002 & it is the best Indian film produced in last 50 years by film fare in 2005. The film was released on 15th August 1975 after going through lot of obstacles during casting the character & filming the movie & by the censor board also regarding the violence in the film. But finally the film was released & has set up new records in the Film industry of which some are still not broken till the industry up to the date.
Sholay film was directed by Ramesh Sippy & produced by his father G P. Sippy. The story revolves around two criminals, Jai & Veeru (played by the Amitabh Bachchan & Dharmendra) that were hired by Thakur (Sanjeev Kapoor) a retired police officer to capture the ruthless dacoit (bandit) Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) Jaya Bahduri & Hema Malini were also casted as Jai & Veeru’s love interest& all these incident take place in a small village Ramgarh.
The film was shot in the rocky terrain of Ramnagara, Karnataka & this film was shot for more than two & a half years span of time after the removal of violent scenes described by the Central Board of Film Certification. And after that we can say that the rest is history. It opened of negative critical reviews but it was a major box-office success & it has the record of playing the film in theatres for more than five years which was later broken up by Shahrukh’s “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge” & it created the record of grossing maximum revenue from box-office which was later broken up by Salman’s “Hum Aapke hai Kaun..!” & many other record’s which are still untouched.
One can say that Sholay is a true Bollywood movie with all the masala that Indian audiences love to watch & truly the greatest film ever made.
