The coffee giant has decided to offer its customers with the wireless charging services at their coffee outlets in the US. Starbucks is partnering with Duracell Powermat to offer cable-free smartphone and tablet recharging alongside their usual caffeine drink.
The charging points will be integrated into tables and counters and when a compatible device comes into contact with one, the battery will start automatically recharging. No need to dig out a power lead or cable or resort to bribery to get a customer sitting next to a power socket to trade places.
It was also one of the first food and beverage chains to offer Wi-Fi, and the move to offer free wireless charging is seen as another effort to attract business throughout the day. Starbucks has to overcome hurdles to offer this service because wireless charging is a revolutionary and brilliant idea on paper. Highlighting the service so that the consumers get awareness about the service and they are willing to use it.
