Interview with Ayesha John Kelshikar, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013-14, Institute of Management and Computer Studies who scored 75% and GPA Score –6.57
How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?
It feels great when you are called a topper and appreciated by your faculties and parents. A feeling which cannot replace any other feeling. The excitement on your friends face when they demand for a party as you end up being a topper, the proud feeling of my parents , the congratulation greetings from your teachers ….all this is feeling cannot be expressed in simple words.
Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?
No, there is no such timetable followed by me. It’s just hard work and lots of practice that has lead to this success. Just one thing everyone should remember “where there is a will there is a way”. Strong determination and hard work leads to success.
Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
Coaching is required for subjects like F.M, SSF, and logistics. Joining classes helped me with extra practice. I went to Mahesh tutorial Thane branch where I was guided properly by the teaching staff specially Ratti Mam.
What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?
My specialization was SSF. I have personal interest in finance that’s why I opted for ssf.
Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?
My worst paper was F.M as it was quite difficult. Most of the students found FM tough and as we all know it was all in the newspapers the next day.
My best paper was SSF as the subject is very interesting and scoring. I enjoyed solving the paper.
Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
Failure is a stepping stone to success. Giving up your life just because of failure is not right. Never get demoralized due to failure instead tried hard and prove it to yourself that nothing can put you down. Just be positive and always say “I can do it and I will do it”
The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.
The Black book was a great experience as you get to know many facts about the topic you have selected. It will help you out even in your future. The only thing I would like to say is when one prepares the black book, do put your own efforts to search information instead of just copy and pasting it from the net with readymade projects…This not only helps you to answer during you vivas but also makes you learn a lot of thing.
Any tips and advises for your juniors?
My advise to my juniors are manage both studies and enjoyment as college days won’t come back again. Select your specialization according to your interest. Work hard and practice a lot. Do let the exam pressure put you down. Make your concepts clear as that’s what’s gonna help you in your near future.
