Started in the year 1999, Talaash was just a one day Festival organised by the students of Jai hind college. Today, Talaash, A 14 year legacy of Jai Hind College, is a thriving fest organized by the Bachelors of Management Studies department which is a 3 day festival. Talaash has emerged from the just a festival to being the biggest management festival of Mumbai and year on year Talaash has managed to raise the bars of expectation for the audience. This year, Talaash has gone beyond all the expectations that one has from a festival and has gone beyond limits to make it as grand as possible.
Talaash opened up with a bang on the 7th September, 2014 when we performed the massive Bike rally along with Gulf and Wheelieboy where we got support from one of the best actors, Imran Khan who shot a film for us saying he supports our cause. We organised this event for spreading awareness about road safety and more importantly, wearing a helmet. This helmet is not just for the rider but also for the pillion. All the pillion riders on the bikes were given a helmet to wear and be a part of the rally which extended from opera house to Nariman point and back. Having heard stories of youngsters passing away even though it wasn’t their fault motivated us to go ahead and make this cause a huge success. This cause reached the media and we got coverage on newspapers and news channels such as news 24.
Before doing this Bike rally, we distributed 800 helmets at various busy signals of Mumbai to increase the awareness amongst people before anything disastrous happens. One says, you do a cause not to impact number, But once you save one person’s life, It matters. We also targeted pillions on police bikes and they were impressed by the cause and smiled and supported us.
Life gives you only one chance, so either wear a helmet or HELL MET.
Soon after the ride for safety in September, We supported Mr. Narendra Modi’s cause – SWAACH BHARAT ABHYAN. He started this on the 2nd of October, 2014 early in the morning at 8. We did the same in Mumbai by taking our group of students to Marine drive and distributed plant saplings to many people and many of them were so enthusiastic about it that they supported us. Not only did we clean Mumbai, But also cleaned the hearts of people and motivated them to follow this cause.
#talaashforacause was a cause that we started taking inspiration from the ILS Ice bucket challenge. We believe, why waste water, when we can clean up waste. So we took up the same concept and picked up pieces of waste from the road and threw it in a bin and nominated three other people to do so. We reached a target of 150 people who helped us for this cause as well.
Breast cancer happens to men too. And people all over the world are negligent about this fact. The month of October is known as the breast cancer awareness month and we took the initiative to distribute bands which had fIght CANcer stating I CAN and we targeted 1700 people through various dessert outlets of Mumbai. We got a very good reach for this cause and got complemented by various outlets as well. The same got covered in a few newspapers as well.
Setting into motion Talaash this year had the event of the season, the Contingent Leaders Meet on the 6th of November. Held at the impressive, Mediterranean themed Asilo at Palladium Hotel, they have set the bar high. There were 21 colleges who were a part of this event who were excited to know what’s up next in Talaash 2014. This Contingent leader meet, we discussed with all colleges about what we will be doing throughout Talaash.
No college festival has ever taken it outside its own area. This year Talaash is taking all the colleges to Adlabs Imagica for one full day after which the two days happen inside the JAI HIND COLLEGE.
The cultural day happens on the 4th of DECEMBER, 2014 where we expect a crowd of 1000+ people to be a part of it. Thus year we have the best colleges of Mumbai being a part of Talaash. Colleges such as Xaviers, Wilson, Lalas and Andrews are coming for the festival accompanies by three outstation colleges. Christ university (Bangalore), Loyalla university (Chennai) and Xaviers(Jaipur) are coming for Talaash this year all the way to Mumbai.
We are looking at this festival to be the best in town and hopin for you to be a part of TALAASH 2014 – the legacy.
