Football has a history of traditional rivalries and there are few modern ricalries which are the best games that football fans love to watch. When these rivals meet each other, the world stops to watch these matches, which are the power of some of the greatest rivalries in club Football.
The Manchester Derby
2 teams from same city always have a great rivalry to be called as the best team in the town. Manchester United were the best team and are a superpower in the world football, while Manchester City was a small club fighting relegation and finishing mid-table. But in last 5 years Man City have got the financial power to attract any player they wish and through their oil money they are now the title challengers and the Manchester Derby is no more just a derby but has become a match that the world wants to watch.
The El Clasico
Some say this is the greatest football rivalry in the world, well it will be if there are only two teams usually challenging for the Spanish title. Real Madrid and Barcelona are two massive clubs with huge fanbase, huge money, filled with superstar players, El Clasico is a game every football fan wants to watch, it is about watching two of the biggest football teams on the planet playing each other.
The Milan Derby
Inter Milan and AC Milan are two of the biggest clubs in Italy and being from the same city Milan there is a massive rivalry between them. Italian football has regressed in recent years but Milan derby is still as competitive and ferocious as it should be and a treat for football fans around the world to see two giants play each other.
Man Utd vs Liverpool
Two of the biggest clubs in England and in the world, Manchester United and Liverpool have enjoyed the success which no other English clubs can match right now. Together they have 38 Premier League titles in with United having 20 and Liverpool 18 and 8 Champion’s League trophies with Liverpool 5 and United 3. There is always a heated match with both sets of fans cheering their team with all their energy. It is about being the best team in England and both are close to each other in terms of that.
Celtic vs Rangers
Two of the best teams of Scotland, Rangers have 54 titles while Celtic has 44 titles in their name. Just like Man Utd Liverpool, this rivalry used to be one of the biggest in the club football. Unfortunate bankruptcy of Rangers kicked them to lower divisions of Scottish Football Leagues but it is a fact that the world misses this rivalry nowadays.
There are also some other greatest rivalries which I may have not mentioned as I found these 5 as the best, but there is Superclasico between Boca Juniors and River Plate of Brazilian league, the Rome Derby between Roma and Lazio, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are two Turkey’s giants and many more great rivalries which makes this game the best and as it is in the world.
