Walmart is an American retail corporation founded by Sam Walton. Walmart came into picture in our country when there were rumors that Walmart was planning to have its retail outlets in the country but what went wrong? What caused the arguments in the house of Parliament regarding the Walmart issue?
Mainly it is believed when multinational corporation enter the Indian retail market they start out giving huge discounts which results in the neighborhood kirana shop not being able to compete with them on the other hand they pay better prices to the farmers where by the local market and the transport chain infrastructure would collapse thereafter the farmers are left with no other option then sell their produce to these corporation and in the long run both the farmers and the consumers tend to lose out .
Walmart instead decided to have a paradigm shift by changing B2C commerce i.e. Business to customer into B2B business to business in order to change the entire kirana framework in the country and decided to venture into E-commerce instead the world’s largest retailer has 20 wholesale outlets in India, including in Luck now and Hyderabad, which will support its e-commerce services and could allow global online retailers such as Amazon.com Inc AMZN.O to sell their own products directly to consumers as early as July, removing restrictions that have held back competition in one of the world’s biggest retail markets.
Hence the wholesale format plus the b2b paradigm shift and e commerce only for traders as of now does seem like a wise way to tackle the Walmart mayhem in the country making it “the Walmart way”!
