Cartoons; we’ve all watched them, and we all love them. DuckTales, The Power Puff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory or The Scooby-Doo Show; Remember them? These animated characters are the ones whose playful misadventures carried us through elementary school and beyond and today we feel nostalgic about it.  Back then the cartoons were directed and run by the creators, and what they, not the corporation wanted out of a show. The shows had the fun and lovability because the creators CARED about what they were making, and thus we cared and loved the shows as much as they did.
90’s cartoons were addictive. From getting up in the morning, before school, after coming from school while having lunch and maybe after coming from tuition classes, we all had fixed timing for watching our all time favourite animies that made us cheerful. Being a 90’s kid, I remember Cartoon Network was so gross, surreal and definitely inappropriate for children, which is why we loved it so much.
There was a group of young people, with a pet dog, who solved logical mysteries of the town by going around in a van; A sarcastic, geeky sea sponge still hadn’t graced our TV screens to corrupt our childhood; where a super intelligent brother experiments his new inventions and his bubbly sister has to ruin it every time; where a sailor taught us the secret of being healthy or three brave girls who broke the convention and fought against evil to save the town. In addition to these, many more cartoon characters that have touched our hearts.
To me Cartoon Network is dead. They had a long run, but I feel that it had used up all of its good ideas at once. The decline of Cartoon Network became steeper and steeper when in 2007 Cartoon Network had already phased out most if not all of the original Cartoon Cartoons in favour of its own creations, or moved the more violent shows/blocks like Samurai Jack to the evening, or into Adult Swim or Oggy, the Cockroach. I even don’t know the names of the existing cartoons.
With most of today’s children’s programming relying on live-action and reality television, it is a relief to sit back and watch some hilarious CN cartoons for the sake of nostalgia.  I’m sure we could all agree that cartoons from the late 80’s to the end of the 90’s were probably the best they’ve ever been. Imaginative, witty, colourful, and full of humour for all ages. Though there’s no point in comparing, we 90s kid definitely feel like we had something amazing going on back then. Our childhood definitely rocked.
