- Tell us about yourself
Hi, I am 2012 BMS Graduate and currently pursuing my PGDM from Chetana’s Institute of Management and Research. An extrovert by nature I like to meet new people and like to learn new things. I feel that you learn a lot when you start exploring your surroundings as well as yourself. I have a hobby of collecting newspaper articles which in turn helps me keep updated about day-to-day happenings. I see myself as an entrepreneur 6 years down the line. I believe that there is no end to learning and experimenting. Experiments always add up to your treasure of knowledge which is like a sapling, the more you pour the greater it grows.
- Describe your BMS College and what is the 1 thing you would like to change in your college?
I did my BMS from Nagindas Khandwala College and trust me that was my life’s best time I had. Used to always hear college life is the best life, but truly felt that thing in N.K. NK has taught me a lot. Be it the leadership/presentation/communication skills or help me setting up goals for my career moreover it has helped me nurture decision making skills and taking up initiatives. Professors come here with good professional experience and help us to understand our SWOT. I personally admire Prof.Mona Bhatia for her immense support in nurturing my BMS journey. She is one of the best professors I have come across in my educational journey. Her comments provided guidance and helped in encouraging me. The exposure I got in NK was worth it. Professors share their corporate experience thus giving us a practical view of the industry. We also participated in inter-collegiate fests which gave us memories and also the confidence to compete and win.
1 thing that I would like to change in college well I would say not only in college but in the BMS curriculum would be to add 2 months tenure of internship. It will help students a lot to discover their strengths as well as the corporate world and also an opportunity to implement their theoretical knowledge in practical world.
- Share your most memorable moments at BMS College
Most memorable ones would be watching movies every Saturday. We would bunk our lectures and rush to Growels 101 every Friday-Saturday. That’s the most memorable part I am missing presently as I don’t get to watch movies so frequently due to hectic schedule. And also our IV’s to Kerala and Mahabaleshwar. Last but not the least fresher and farewell parties have always added up to our beautiful memories of BMS journey.
- Where have you worked in the past and where are you currently doing?
Well I haven’t worked in the past nor do I work currently. As said immediately after my BMS I joined B-school to polish my skills attained in BMS and enter corporate world with all the skills required. I presently completed my internship and got a glimpse of the actual corporate world. As I am looking forward to do my MBA specialisation in HR I keep myself updated with the recent trends happening in HR through newspapers or internet.
- What advice/tips do you have for BMS undergraduates and graduates?
Do not stress yourself on making career. Just set achievable goals for yourself and start working upon it. Remember enjoy your college life as that would be the most important thing that you will miss in future. Trust yourself and always have a never die attitude. These 3 years of college is going to make your future. Whatever you learn in your BMS journey is definitely going to help you in some way or the other. Hard work never goes in vain. I firmly agree to what Chetan Bhagat said “Don’t Be Serious, Be Sincere.”
