1) Swades: We, The People –
Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Gayatri Joshi in lead roles.The film is about a successful Indian scientist who returns to an Indian village to take his nanny to America with him and in the process rediscovers his roots.
2) Rang De Basanti –
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film features Aamir Khan, Siddharth Narayan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Madhavan etc. It is about a young woman from England who comes across to India to make a documentary about her grandfather’s diary which was written in 1920s about Indian independence with 5 young men.
3) Bhaag Milkha Bhaag –
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film features Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor in lead roles. It is the true story of the “Flying Sikh” – world champion runner and Olympian Milkha Singh who overcame the massacre of his family, civil war during the India-Pakistan partition and homelessness to become one of India’s most iconic athletes.
4) Gandhi –
Gandhi is a 1982 epic biographical film which dramatises the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, an Indian lawyer and activist who was a leader of the nation’s non-violent, non-cooperative independence movement against the United Kingdom’s rule of the country during the 20th century.
5) Lagaan : Once Upon A Time In India –
Directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, the film stars Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh in lead roles. The film is about the people of a small village in Victorian India who stake their future on a game of cricket against their ruthless British rulers.
6) Lakshya –
Directed by Farhan Akhtar, the film features Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta in lead roles. It is a story of how a pampered young man Karan faces the reality of having aimless life when taken out of his comfort zone.
7) Sarfarosh –
Directed by John Mathew Matthan, the film features Aamir Khan and Sonali Bendre in lead roles. It is a story of a young medical student who quits his studies to join the Indian Police Services to wipe out the terrorists after his brother is killed and father severely injured by terrorists.
