Interview with Pooja V. Mishra, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013-14, Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College who scored 74.14%.
How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?
It feels good to be the topper of your college and i would like to give the credit to my friends with whom i used to study and who used to help me out when i used to face any difficulty while studying. No mantra as such which led me to be the topper.
Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?
I didn’t prepare any timetable but yes before 15 days of exam i allocated 2 days for each subject. Practical subject should be practised as much as u can.
Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
If a student is sincere and regular to college then no classes is required. Yes i had joined for FM,SSF and Logistics.
What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?
Special studies in finance. The reason why I opted for finance was i wanted to make my career in finance rather than marketing.
Can you list the textbooks you referred for all subjects?
For HRM, SSM,Logistics i referred Rishabh publication and for ethics Vipul.
Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?
Financial management was my worst paper as it was too lengthy plus i dint practise how much this subject requires… Otherwise it is nt a tough subject. Logistics and HRM was my best paper.
Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
It is very sad to know that students nowadays are committing suicide out of failures this is because they think that failing in particular subject is the end of their life but its not.. You can just get back to the studies with more will power that if this time i couldn’t make it I will work more hard to achieve what i desire this should be the mindset rather than putting ourself into depression. I never take studies so seriously that i need stress management to get rescued.
The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.
Yes black book had benefited me in many ways. While making the project you meet people who are experienced in that field so you get to learn lot of things from them and u get experience which will benefit you in your career as my topic was also related to finance.
Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS? What are your future plans?
No additional course during studies.
Any tips and advises for your juniors?
Most importantly do not take tension regarding your studies. By giving prelims, test etc your 60% of studies are already completed. Then refer last 10 years exam paper and start solving it.. it gives you an idea how much you know and 1 more thing “marks are just numbers which will never lead you ahead in your life what matters is the knowledge you possess”. Try to gain knowledge rather than mugging up things and you will eventually be at the top.
