1) Tell us about yourself –Â
Hi ! My name is Anand Salve. I am currently pursuing TYBMS from SST College, Ulhasnagar. I am the 1st Rank holder in my college.
2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY sem V exams?Â
First of all, I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard that I am the topper in my college. I just prepared 1 month before my exams where all friends of mine (especially girls) had started preparing 3-4 months before. But truly speaking, I am v. happy for having obtained this position.
3) Whom will you credit your success to?
The entire credit goes to my two eminent professors – Mr. Ghanshyam Lakhani Sir and Tushar Sir of GOURI TUTORIALS, Ambernath. Both of them together have motivated me and helped a lot to achieve my targets. My parents, who gave their support during all those days and my crazy friends, who helped me a lot for solving my additional doubts.
4) How much did you study for Sem V?
Studying Sem V was truly interesting as well as tedious. I firmly devoted my entire energy in getting solved all my examples and doubts of two important practical subjects – Financial Management(FM) and Special Study in Finance (SSF). The theory part was done by Tushar sir who used to explain each and every concept with examples which made learning & understanding them more easier.
5) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?
Absolutely, not. I started preparing at the onset of prelims in my class. I got v.less marks in the prelims and so, I made up my mind to score more and that was where I actually started studying.
6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?
To be frank, there are no easy subjects in Sem V. It all depends on how much you can grasp and put it into words of your own. But, I did like F.M. and S.S.F., as both of them were practical subjects.
7) Any special way of writing the answers?
Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs? There is no special way of writing answers. It is
the usual pattern starting with Introduction, Definition, Meaning, Diagram, Explanation & Conclusion, in the end.
8) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
The case studies for theory subjects were a bit tougher than those in the practicals. For the case study in theory subjects, I used to read the questions first and then read the case. I would underline all the
important facts and figures in the case which all will prove helpful in framing the answer for the case. Then, I would write the answer as per the requirement.
9) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?
My sir used to say that ‘Diagrams speak more than words, and it’s true. Drawing diagrams helps the answers to be more attractive. No, it is not mandatory. From the marks point of view, i solemnly believe a ‘yes’ for that.
10) Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. time-table /Â how many hours per subject per day etc?
As told earlier, there was no specific pattern followed by me. Practical’s like FM and SSF were given top priority against its theory counterpart.
11) How did you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?
I go to play and read newspapers during my leisure time and also when I get bored from continuous preparations.
12) If you are made the Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
I would simply avoid the project work, which is of no use to the students; as all of them just
copy and paste it from the internet.
13) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under the fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to give to these students?
I would just like to say to them that there is no need to worry.
14) Through the struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom in life and competition?
As we all know that ‘Rome was not built in a day’ similarly, all my tiresome toil for day and night proved fruitful. I can just say one thing – “Love what you do and do what you love!’
