In the valleys of the great Himalayas lies a humble clan of people from aboard. These people over here are tough in body mind and soul but deeply considerate a heart. In the hill stations of Darjeeling known for its pearl tea, lush green, and highest altitude zoo we as tourist miss out a lot what it has to offer.
Started in October 2 1959 after certain amount of Tibetan refugees followed Dalai Lama to their escape from Tibet was the Tibetan refugee self help center a four acre government build center. Built with 10 staring members, of which Tenzing Norgay Sherpa being the first climber to climb mountain Everest was its founding father.
This center now hosts about 650 Tibetans who earn their living selling woolen shawls and carpets, carved wooden crafts leather jackets coats etc. The production is so wide that they have started to export to 36 different countries across the globe.
With his they have managed to expand the center to greater crafts and arts. One of the newest additions to the center is the tourist center where in tourist can by goodies for their travels, as well as eat and rest for night staying priori bookings are also available. They also have plans to start a monastery in the given vicinity.
These people represent ideals from which we can learn a lot. People have to have tough hearts to leave behind everything they knew for their belief and virtues. This can only happen when one is completely in discipline with their morals.
These people work hard even after facing turmoil’s of life living with their culture in another country only to receive love and respect of the same through their much deserved art form. This teaches us a much important lesson to believe in something and hope for the best is what life is all about.
