What is the first thing that comes to your mind about the profession of a gujurati? He must be a “businessman”! Yes! You got it right. Being born and brought up in a ‘gujju’ family there’s always those business skills you have inborn. It’s a natural talent like an active volcano. It will erupt when the time is right for the next in the family to learn the hardships of business.
The time came for me too came when I was told to enter the wholesale market of ladies purses, which was always my dream and I have my father to thank for that. I understood that “things aren’t that simple as they look!”. But to add on to the saying, I would like to say, “it becomes easy by keeping patience and having experiences”.
I was working for almost a month in the business and attended college along with it. One day I went for delivering the goods to my customer with my worker. It was a small retail shop with hardly space for 5 customers to stand in! Being a young blood I wanted to get the thing done as soon as possible. The shop was full of customers and no one really there to take the delivery of the goods from me. The manager of the shop told me to wait till the customers leave. By that time the manager and me, both were having a nice chat with me asking to make me free ASAP in between the chat. He was pretty much chilled out. But in fraction of time he boiled out. All credits to my impatience!I Asked for the fourth time to sign the challan and check the goods later as the customers were still being attended by the salesman of his shop. The manager suddenly got angry and started humiliating me in front of everyone.I didn’t know how to react at first, but then I lost my temper and my patience and I started answering him back and left with the goods unchecked, undelivered, challan unsigned. That was my ego which was reacting. That actually costed me a lot! We lost that customer. A customer, who used to purchase goods worth Rs.30,000 around monthly, today takes nothing.
From the whole scenario we just got to know that if I would have been patient enough to wait for some more time, that wait couldn’t have costed me this much.
This was just a small example folks, but in real life also ‘by waiting for the correct time for a particular thing to happen is essential otherwise it costs you much worse then expected!’ Would like to end with a small Quote!
“BE CALM, BE PATIENT, THINGS WOULD END UP IN YOUR FAVOUR!”
