India TV’s Senior journalist and editorial director Qamar Waheed Naqvi quits to protest the “fixed” interview of the BJP leader Narendra Modi which was aired a couple of days ago on India TV.
Narendra Modi was interviewed by Rajat Sharma, Editor-in-Chief on 10th April 2014 for his weekly show “Aap Ki Adaalat”.
As per media reports, Naqvi told his associates that he quits in protest against the scripted interview. However, Rajat Sharma confirmed Naqvi’s resignation.
The interview was recorded infront of 300 people in the audience at India TV’s headquarters and was trending on twitter the first day with 16 million views on Facebook and 6 million on Youtube so far.
All the allegations raised by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Nitish Kumar, Mulayam Singh etc. were asked to Modi by Rajat Sharma in the interview.
As per the statements of Ritu Dhawan, MD & CEO of India TV, “There is no link between the interview and Naqvi’s resignation and the reasons attributed in the social media are baseless”.
